membrane transport refers to the mechanisms by which solutes cross the pasma membrane, but there are additional prockaryotype cell structures through which a solute would pass when entering or exiting a cell,. Sequence the path of a solute from.....
The plasma membrane is a thin and flexible membrane around the cell that regulates the transport across the membranes. The molecules are transported across the membranes mainly through three ways such as diffusion, osmosis and facilitated diffusion. In diffusion, the molecules will move from the region of high concentration to low concentration region. In osmosis, the water molecules will move from low solute concentration area to high solute concentration area through a semipermeable membrane. And in facilitated diffusion, the molecules will moves through the concentration gradient through the protein channels.
The sequence of the path of this transport from the external environment to the cytoplasm of prokaryotic cells includes
External environment -> Capsule ( capsules protects the cell from dehydration. it helps to attach the cell to the surfaces) -> Cell wall ( cell wall helps to maintain the shape and structure of cell and also supports the cell) -> Plasma membrane ( Plasma membranes protects the cell from the external environment and also mediates the cellular transport. It is a lipid bilayer and contains protein and cholestrol) -> Cytoplasm ( gel like substances where the cell structures are dispersed).
