Write a paragraph or more to explain what test stats and critical values are, and what they are for?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Test Stats is a random variable fully depend on the sample data. It is used in the statistical hypothesis testing. Hypothesis testing is totally specified on the test statistic. we can use the test statistic to determine weather the null hypothesis is rejected or not. On the basis of test stats we can compare the given data with what is expected on the null hypothesis.

Critical value is the point on a point on the test distribution that is compared to the test statistic weather to reject the null hypothesis. If the absolute value of the test statistic is greater than the critical value then it is called stattistical significance and we reject the null hypothesis.

In the statistical hypothesis problem, Test stats and critical value are two important parts. From the given sample data we can able to find the value of the test statistic and using the concept of the critical value we can come to the singificant decision to reject or accept the null hypothesis.
