Make sure the data is sorted by category (male-at-rest, female at-rest, etc.). Use the Data Analysis tools of Excel to construct 95% and 99% confidence intervals for all 8 categories of the sorted quantitative variables. Excel will calculate the margin of error given as the “confidence interval” in the output. Use this margin of error to create your 8 confidence intervals by both adding and subtracting it from the sample mean (calculated in unit 3). This creates a range of values that is the confidence interval.

Expert Solution

We are given data and we have to calculate confidence interval using data analysis tool

Confidence interval gives interval estimate of parameter

The formula to construct confidence interval is

mean margin of error

Here, mean and margin of error is calculated by data analysis tool pack and put these values in the above formula to construct confidence interval.

constructing 95% CI

a)

first ci is   (78.4583   81.3027)

b)

Second ci is (79.3988, 82.48599)

c)

Third ci is (88.5941, 91.6095)

d)

Fourth ci is (87.8479, 92.1322)

Constucting 99% confidence interval

e)

First ci is (77.99991, 81.762)

f)

second ci is (78.89791, 82.9868)

g)

Third ci is (88.1072, 92.0964)

h)

Fourth ci is (87.1526, 92.8276)

Hence, we can construct 8 confidence interval for each category at 95% and 99% level
