Peacekeeping was started in 1948. The objective behind this mission was to check Armistice Agreement among Israel and Arabs. Since then 70 opreations has been undertaekn by UN- which came to known as United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation.UN Emergency Fofce was the first operation in 1956 to address the Suez crisis. The first large one was the UN operation at the Congu(ONUC) which was in 1960. Also in 60s and 70s UN launched short term missions. A change in this mission was by the end of Cold war. They has changed its tradiotinal way to mutidimentional one which was meant to make sure the implementation of peace agreements and also guide in making the core of the peace. Military was the main and backbone of such operations which also included administrative areas like economists,legal experts, humanitarian workers, administrators and so on. The peacekeeping operations increased dramatically after the Coldwar.By 21st century UN gone for to check the challenges of this and to introduce reformative measures. So in many African countires these got started its operations. Presently many military people and police force works in this, though it has its challenges.
