Which is the solute and which is the solvent in a solution of 50g of water and 50g of ethanol? Use an equation to prove your point.
solute- the substance which is present in less quantity
solvent- the substance which is present in more quantity
if no. of mole is more than it means molecule will be also more because
no. of molecules=mole*6.0123*10^(23)
hence find the mole in both cases
and
mole=given mass / molecular mass
solute are those having less mole than solvent
ethanol, no. of mole=given mass / molecular mass=50/46.06844=1.086
water no of mole=50/18=2.77
hence water is solvent while ethanol is solute
