Which are examples of equilibria? Which are chemical? Which are physical? How would you know they reached equilibrium?
Vaporization & condensation of water
Conversion of oxygen gas (O2) to ozone gas (O3)
Dissolving & crystallizing of sugar
Vaporization & condensation of water --> physcal equilbirium, since water remains as H2O
Conversion of oxygen gas (O2) to ozone gas (O3 --> this is chemical equilbirium, since O2 turns to O3, changeein molecule
Dissolving & crystallizing of sugar --> this is physical, since ions are spred but remain their molecular form
All those are equilbiriums, since rate of production = rate of reactants
reverse = forward
You will know when:
Vaporization & condensation of water --> no mor vapor is present when condensing or no more liquid is seen when vaporizing
Conversion of oxygen gas (O2) to ozone gas (O3) --> O3 has pungent odor, O2 is flammable, so can burn
Dissolving & crystallizing of sugar --> no more solid can be soluble, so it sinks as a solid
