Is there a specific formula in case there was a known heat loss given by the equation q=h(T1-T2), where h=a w/m2.K and then the speed of the airstream changed and h=became h1=a+ 70 w/m2.K?

Solutions

Expert Solution

No, there is no specific formula for this case. Actually, it is the same case as previous one, only the value of heat transfer coefficient(h) has been changed. General formula to determine the heat loss due to convection is given by:-

Q = hA(T1 – T2)

Where, Q = heat transfer

                A = area of surface

                T1 and T2 are temperature at different locations between which heat is transferred.

q = h(T2 – T1)

here, q = heat transfer per unit area.

If the value of “h” has been changed, then replace the new value of “h”(that is h1) in above formula and you will get the answer. Thus in this case heat transfer is equal to

q = (a+70)(T1 – T2).

Heat Capacity Learning Goal: To understand the concepts of heat capacity, specific heat, and molar heat capacity. Heat capacity, C, is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of a substance by exactly 1 degree Celsius. The energy needed to warm an object increases as the mass of that object increases. We see this in our everyday life. For example, we know that it takes much more energy to heat a large tank of water than a small...
