Two diploid cells with 32 chromosomes each

Four diploid cells with 32 chromosomes each

Two haploid cells with 16 chromosomes each

Four haploid cells with 16 chromosomes each

2.

In humans, sex determination involves what mechanism?

Group of answer choices

An X-chromosome mechanism

A Y-chromosome mechanism

An autosomal genic mechanism

It is currently unknown the mechanism that determine biological sex in human

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer 1. Option D.Four haploid cells with 16 chromosomes each

Yeast cells have a haploid and a diploid phase. The haploid gametes fuse togather to for a diploid cell, zygote. This diploid cells in favourabel conditions divide mitotically but when the consition becomes unfavourable like lack of nutrients they undergos meiosis to produce 4 haploids spores inside an ascus. These spores are or 2 types 2 a spores and 2 alpha spores.

Answer 2, Option B. A Y-chromosome mechanism

Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes. 22 pairs of autosomal chromosomes and a pair of Sex chromosomes, which are X and Y chromososmes of which Y chromosome which the child receives from the father where as the X chromososm is received from both the parents. X chromosome is present in both males are females but Y chromosome is present only in males and has SRY gene which is responsible for development of Male sex character and hence Y chromosome is the sex determining chromosome.
