AUTOIMMUNE : refers to a misdirected immune system where the immune mechanisms attacks body's own cells and tissues leading to organ damage. Autoimmune cells are normally eliminated by the immune self tolerance mechanisms of the human body. Different theories were proposed to explain the phenomenon of autoimmunity such as Clonal deletion theory, Clonal anergy theory and idiotype network theory. Most common autoimmune diseases are SLE, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren syndrome, HSP, Wegners Granulomatosis etc:
