Your University has decided to open a new urgent care clinic on the main campus. As the new COO of this facility, you are in charge of planning and designing this $10M facility. Describe in detail the following,
keeping in mind the Patient Experience in all aspects of the planning and design:
Clientele/Diagnoses/Treatments
• Who is your main clientele? What are the most common diagnosis/treatments this clientele would be seen for in the clinic?
-Facility design.
• Describe the design of your facility. Be very detailed and specific. Cover waiting room(s), reception area, triage/treatment room(s), billing/check out, etc.\
-Staff/Staffing Model
• Describe the staff and staffing model in your facility.
-Ideal patient encounter
• Describe an ideal patient encounter from arrival to discharge.
Please be very detailed in each of these responses.
#. The main clientele is the elderly population above 65years . The most common diagnosis that would be seen in the clinic are heart attacks , stroke , renal failure , Alzheimer's disease, DKA , etc
#. The design of the clinic will be made very simple so that its not too much confusing for the elderly to reach places . It will be good open spaced clinic with reception at the side of entrance , billing at the other side of entrance which are the two parts needed while entry and exist of the clinic. The rooms would be spacious with non sliping tiles , good light facility , bathrooms , washrooms with side rails , etc . A room near by entrance for keeping supportive aids . To the right of entrance traige room and emergency department and outside it waiting area will be present . It would be two storey building with lift facility . All investigation rooms will be downstairs . Wards and Canteen on the first floor.
#. We will be using effective staff management means consistently having the right employees – and enough of them – in the right positions.
The staffing pattern will be 1:1 for severly sick patients and 1:2 for stable patients . There would three shifts a day . Every staff have to work five days a week and would be provided two days off, six night duties will be given with a gap of 15days .
#. An interaction between a patient and healthcare provider(s) for the purpose of providing healthcare service(s)based on the needs from the arrival to the clinic with the goal of faster recovery by provision of comfort , use good communication skills , evidenced based practice etc .
