What were the challenges and the opportunities that Europeans faced in the aftermath of the Black Death?
Black death involved a great deal of impact on the European History in terms of having emotional, political, social, economic and religious upheavels. It reduced the world population per se with it's enormous & devastating impact. In trems of opportunities, for the ones who survived, the labor went in high demand and led to prosperity. Therefore, many people& families flourished as well. It is generally estimated that between one-quarter and one-third of the European population died from the outbreak between 1348 and 1350. Many small town and villagers left their areas and evacuated to larger cities, leaving their villages abandoned forever. The impact on different regions of Europe was different, making the impact rather disproportionate. Cities were also strikingly filthy, infested with lice, fleas, and rats, and subject to diseases related to malnutrition and poor hygiene. Living more and more closely to one another ue lack of safe spaces led to easier spread of the epidemic. All social classes were affected, although the lower classes, living together in unhealthy places, were most vulnerable. Their lifestyles made it more easier for them to be impacted and therefore it is argued that the deaths that occurred during the period were more in the lower socioeconomic strata than the richer ones.
