Lee comes from a very collectivistic culture, with high power distance, but with extremely low gender egalitarianism. He was born into and raised in this culture. He is currently is in his early- forties, leading a manufacturing firm. Explain what kind of a leader he is likely to be (given the culture he was raised in) by referring to and explaining each of the mentioned cultural characteristics.
Lee is most likely going to become an Autocratic leader as he has been raised in a high power distance culture where seniority is respected, strict rules exist, and power vests in few hands only. In power distance culture subordinates do not assert that power inequality exists but accept it in a natural order, therefore Lee might follow an autocratic leadership style where there is more tolerance for concentration of power. Lee being raised in such culture would also like to vest most of the power and authority in his hands and make his subordinates follow his rules.
With respect to being raised in a collectivism culture Lee might also use a participative leadership where large span of control will exist but employee involvement and participation is also given due importance. Lee will thus promote working within teams and groups who will be hold accountable for group performance or team outcomes. Collectivism calls for coordination, participation and engagement and involvement of employees due to which Lee might involve employees into decision making.
Since low gender egalitarianism exist in the culture in which Lee was raised, the position of women in the manufacturing firm of Lee would be very low and he would discriminate between the gender while considering promotions and selection process.ow egalitarianism will mean that gender inequality will exist and men will be preferred over women for higher positions etc. Therefore Lee will also promote men over women in his manufacturing facility.
