Let x = acres of corn farming

Y = acres of wheat farming

X + y = 1120 ................(1)

Cost of corn farming = $ 270 per acres

Cost of wheat farming = $ 140 per acres

Total cost of farming corn and wheat = $237400

=>270x + 140y = 237400. ............(2)

From equation (1) x + y = 1120 => y = 1120 - x

Substituting value of y in equation (2)

=> 270x + 140( 1120 - x) = 237400

=> 270 x + 140 × 1120 - 140 x = 237400

=> 270 x - 140 x + 156800 = 237400

=> 130 x = 237400 - 156800

=> 130x = 80600

=> X = 80600 / 130 = 620 => x = 620 acres

=> X + y = 1120

=> Y = 1120 - x = 1120 - 620 = 500 => y = 500 acres
