Nerf N- Strike darts are made through many stages before
achieving the final product. Just like any product that we see
around us, the Nerf darts are first designed, modelled, analysed
and then produced. The production procedure is not too complicated
but there is certain uniqueness to the production process like it
is with every other product. Since Nerf darts are made up of Foam,
analysis is given considerable importance in the production
process.
Following is an overview of the production/ manufacturing
process :
- Design : The darts are designed that is a sketch is made of the
darts planned to achieve. Once the sketch is made, a 3D model of
the same is produced.
- Analysis : The darts are given material properties and analysed
for strength and weight. This being done, the darts are then wind
tunnel tested for simulation in different conditions. Various
boundary conditions are applied to this simulation which is
directly derived from the particular speciality of the dart and the
purpose it is intended to serve. The results of the simulation are
studied and the best design is taken forward for fabrication.
- Safety testing : Once the analysis is done, the darts are
undergone several safety checks to ensure that the products do no
cause harm to the people purchasing them after all they are toys
and mainly intended for children to play. Thus, safety checks plays
a very vital role.
- Production : Since this is a very unique product, the exact
production process is a trade secret and wouldnt be possible to be
known accurately.
