Explain what occurs during depolarization and repolarization in the circulatory system?
Ans:
Once the the peak potential is genereted then the spike potential is generated at which the permeability of the membrane to Na + decreases and it is more permeable to K+ which suddenly diffuses out from the cytoplasm to extracellular fluid due to elcetrochemical gradient.Suddenly the this part of membrane agian gains its polarity becomes electropositive on outside and electronegative on inside. This regaining of polarity is called as repolarization. It has more K + outside and more Na + inside.
On the ORS complex of electrocardiogram S pole is called as atrial repolazization.
Depolariztion:
Depolarization is due to the influx of Na+ which leads to the cell's internal membrane to become more positive. It has more Na + inside and K + outside the cell.
On QRS complex the P wave represents atrial depolarization and this happens during the atrial systole. Atrial repolarization happens during atrial diastole or ventricular systole.
