Psychological abuse
It is also called emotional abuse characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another person to behaviour that may result in psychological trauma including anxiety, depression and stress .It involves a person's attempts tofrighten,control or isolate you.
Examples-verbal aggression, threat, insult, Harrassement.
Signs of psychological abuse
Depression
Alcoholism
Sleeplessness
Head ache
Fatigue
Difficulty to concentrate in one subject
Anxiety, panic attacks.
Weight loss or gain
Uncooperative and aggressive behavior
Low self esteem.
PHYSICAL NEGLECT
It is defined as negligent treatment or the maltreatment of child by a person responsible for the child's welfare, including both acts or omission of care.
Example -Failure to thrive, severe dehydration
Ongoing and untreated illnesses and exposure to harm due to being unsupervised are all examples of the consequences of physical neglect.
Signs of physical neglect
Poor appearance and hygeine
Change in behavior becoming clingy.
Poor growth or weight gain or being overweight
Lack of clothing or supplies to meet physical needs.
Taking money or food without permission.
Hiding food for later.
Poor record of school attendance.
FINANCIAL ABUSE
Financial abuse is a form of family violence .It can include withholding money, controlling all the household spending or refusing to include in financial decisions.
Examples-A family member repeatedly pressures a parent for money or borrows money but never repays it.
A family member who sells a patents house or other property and then uses the money for their own benefit.
Signs of a financially abusive person
*Restricts to use bank accounts,credit card or cash.
*Makes you ask permission to spend your own money.
*restrictin in using mobile, internet, and transport and it prevent you from working or studying.
SEXUAL ABUSE
It also referred to as molestation. It is a sexual behavior or a sexual act forced upon a woman, man or child without their consent. Most victim of sexual violence are women. Sexual abuse includes abuse of a woman, man or child by a man woman or child.
Example -Rape (attempted rape, Gang rape, serial rape)
Incest -sexual abuse at the hands of a family member.
Signs of sexual abuse include
Bruises, scars, chafing, bite marks in the genital area.
Discharge or bleeding from the vagina.
Rectal or genital bleeding
Anal tears or dilation
Symptoms of sexually transmitted disease
Some times abnormal bleeding will occur.
PHYSICAL ABUSE
It is an intentional act causing injury or trauma to another person or animal by way of bodily contact. In most cases children are the victims of physical abuse.
Examples -Scratching, punching, biting, strangling,choking or kicking.
Signs of physical abuse
Multiple bruising
Fractures
Burns
Bedsores
Fear
Depression
Unexplained weight loss
Assault.
