    Antigenic Drift Occurs

    Immune cell infection

Fc region of antibody binds to FcR on immune cell

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer

(c) Antigenic drift ----> (b) Antibody binds weakly to epitome on pathogen --->. (e). Fc region of Antibody binds to FcR on immune cell --->. (d). Immune cell infection. ---> (a) Cytokine release and wide scale immune response.

Explanation :

Antibody dependent enhancement is a phenomenon in which a virus binds to a non -neutralizing antibodies. This enhances the entry of virus into host immune cell and leads to more infectivity and virulence.

This whole process starts with a small change in the genetic make up of a viral strain ( called Antigenic drift ).

The viruses bind to antigen binding site of the Antibody which is incapable to neutralize it because of the antigenic drift. The Fc receptor present on the immune cell attached this Antibody to which the antigen (virus ) is attached. Thus the virus gains entry inside the immune cell and a wide scale immune response with release of Cytokine is initiated.

Put the following events in the order they occur during translation. One event is NOT part of translation, do NOT include it in your sequence. The finished polypeptide, mRNA, and ribosomal subunits separate. A peptide bond is catalyzed between the first and second amino acids. The ribosome moves so that the third codon is in the A site. A second tRNA with brings in the second amino acid. The small ribosomal subunit associates with the mRNA and moves to the...
