Estimate for the next Summer Olympics 2019. __________ Do you think this is a good estimate? _____ (2 points)
Why or why not?
i am using minitab to find the linear regression equation.steps ae as follows:-
copy the data in minitab stat regression regression fit regression model choose time in response and year in continuous predictors ok.
thus following the above steps the regression equation i have obtained is :-
Time (seconds) | = | 603.4 - 0.2756 Year |
now i am using the linear regression equation to estimate the time for next summer olympic in 2019.the estimate be:-
time= 603.4 - (0.2756*2019) = 46.9636 ~ 47 seconds.
i think this is a pretty good estimate.because from the data we have seen that times are gradually decreasing with increase year.on that basis,i think the estimate of 47 seconds in summer olympic 2019 is not bad.
