Project proposal: Do men and women eat corn on the cob the same way?
Corn on the cob can be eaten two ways. One can either eat along the rows from one end to the other (the ‘typewriter’ approach) or by eating around the cob (the ‘spinner’ approach). This study will test to see if men and women tend to eat corn on the cob the same way.
Null hypothesis: The proportion of men and women who eat corn using the ‘typewriter’ approach is the same.
Alternative hypothesis: The proportion of men and women who eat corn using the ‘typewriter’ approach is not the same.
H0: P(M) = P(W)
H1: P(M) ≠ P(W)
[NOTE: Since I didn’t say one or the other would be higher, it has to be a 2-tailed test]
