The childhood obesity has become a
serious public health problem that increases morbidity, mortality
in children. Obesity has become a problem to combat due to increase
in globalization, increase in use of technology. Today’s
childrenuses multiple types of media and spend more time in front
of computer, television, and game screens than any other activity
in their lives except sleeping. The reasons foe increase in
childhood obesity due to marketing are as follows:
- The advertisment industry
advertises more for the non-nutritious junk food. The kids gets
attracted towards them and consume these food as a substitute for
nutritious food.
- The advertisment industry does not
leave any mark in advertsiisng fo rtheri prodict. The psoters
featuring the unhealthy foods will be seen all over the city,
internet, television, etc. It becomes difficult for children to
resist them. Children do not understand the persuasive intent of
advertising.
- Advertising directed at children
this young is by its very nature exploitative. Children have a
remarkable ability to recall content from the ads to which they
have been exposed.
- Product preference has been shown
to occur with as little as a single commercial exposure and to
strengthen with repeated exposures. Product preferences affect
children's product purchase requests and these requests influence
parents' purchasing decisions.
