ePAT ;; Accurate and objective pain assessment is a foundation stone of optimal pain management. This is particularly relevant for patients with impaired cognition, such as those with dementia, whose ability to report or verbalize pain is compromised.
Like many pain scales for use with people with dementia, there is not a lot of evidence regarding the APS. This is probably because of the nature of the group the scale is designed for. However, It is easy to use and no training is required. It is easily accessible online and provides some sort of formalised pain assessment for this complex group of dementia sufferers. ePAT assessment is very beneficial to pts as it is accurate and realible and has wide psychometric range
The limitations are inaccessible to connect with health worker, health worker unable to detect pain using the scale etc
Both the scales benefit the pt by assessing pain and early management of the pain and alleviating the suffering
