A stroke, also known as a cerebrovascular accident or CVA is when part of the brain loses its blood supply and the part of the body that the blood-deprived brain cells control stops working.

Support groups can help survivors and caregivers have meaningful lives after stroke.Support groups provide a community of people who have dealt with or are dealing with similar issues. A bond forms that promotes positive reinforcement in all aspects of recovery. The social interaction can eradicate feelings of doubt, depression, and isolation. Participation in support groups serves as an inspiration for trying new things or facing issues head-on with confidence.

A team of different specialists may help with your rehabilitation, including physiotherapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, and specialist nurses and doctors.

A key person (or two) is someone who has a prime
interest in organizing a new stroke group. This
person may be a stroke survivor, the caregiver
of a stroke survivor, or a social worker or other
healthcare professional from a rehabilitation center
or community services agency. It’s important for
this person to be able to commit the time and effort
needed.
*Ensure that the core group responsible
for organizing the new support group
meets several times before the first
official meeting. That will improve the involvement of each
member.
• Be realistic about what type of service you
can provide. Provide opportunity for members opinion
• Involve stroke survivors at the outset. So they will be more
comfort.
• Visit another stroke support group.so that they can understood
how to participate in activities.
The leader should be more frindly with full on energy and positive attitude towards life . So that the members will be more confident.
