3. Look up the appropriate topic on the Internet and determine what resources are available.
4. Determine how you would navigate patients to community resources and encourage or coach them to take advantage of the materials.
Procedure for directing/navigating patients for accessing appropriate patient education
1. Checking for appropriate research material that fits the patient''s medical description
2. Two basic categories of patients material exists on the net. One is the research papers and thesis materials which contain lot of medical jargon. This may be confusing and intimidating for the patient and recommending it is not advisable. Second type is the medical material by various websites hosted directly by major medical hospitals and health care institutions. These are in lay man terms and patient friendly.
However, not all of these websites contain relevant material for the patients.
3. To navigate patients to appropriate resources, usage of appropriate 'keywords' would be suggestible.
eg: The primary name of the disease or condition, or the diagnostic procedure
4. Checking for relevant material from multiple websites and not relying on exactly one.
5. Aggregating existing material that is needed for patient. Content pooling apps can be used.
6. Directing patients on a practice management software by redirecting them to appropriate content for their medical cause.
