1. Give two examples of how the progression of dementia impacts on a person
dementia is an organic mental disorder which is characterised by difficulty in carrying out higher cognitive function and activities of daily living due to degenerative process of the brain. this has a progressive course which takes years to become severe. for example, the client may experience mild difficulty in the ability to think and learn, but the person will be able to carry out activities of daily living in the early stage of dementia. another example could be related to the late stage, when the needs of the person will be more, and gets depend on others for daily living. this stage includes cognitive decline, changes in physiological system and behavioural and mood patterns. overall, the progression of dementia, makes a person depend on others due to decline of general funcion and well being of the person, and needs better psychological, physical and social support at every stage.
