Based on your experiences, do you agree that there is a “law of karma” that explains the course your life takes? In addition, after reading the materials on “Why do bad things happen to good people?” what are some of the key points made regarding suffering? Also, speculate how a monotheist might explain why bad things happen to good people.

Expert Solution

Yes I agree that the law of karma exists.

it is also known as the tha law of cause and effect.

In a nutshell, it states that 'what goes around, comes around '.

  • planless or worthless sufferings are part of our unconnected world.
  • All of the creatures in the world are part of a problem in one way or another.
  • God gives us sufferings inorder to bring goodthings in our lives.
  • God is not faraway from our lives.
  • This universe in not the ultimate home of any creature.

In a monotheistic view, this life was never meant to be one if doesn't face any sufferings, rather it teaches that the sufferings we do face is necessary for us to achieve the purpose of our life. That is to progress in the knowledge and love of our creator and to constantly improving our moral character.

Inorder to make progress in these two ideals, we need two things:

1. freewill to make our choices meaningful.

2. tests to proove our works.

But the religion doesnt teach us that the sufferings in our lives depends on how good we are as people rather how good we are as people depends on how we deal with the sufferings.

Thanks.!..
