How much time on average would a server need to spend on a customer to achieve a service rate of 30 customers per hour? (round answer to 2 decimal places)

Solutions

Expert Solution

pl rate

A server has to achieve a service rate of 20 customers per hour.

Calculate the average time the server needs to spend on each customer as follows:

The service rate (μ) = 30 customer per 1 hour

30 customers are served by the service facility in 60 minutes.

The average service time is,

1/ μ = 1/30 = 0.03 per hour or 1.8 minute

Hence, a server has to spend an average of 1.8 minutes on a customer to achieve a service rate of 30 customers per hour.

A college administrator would like to determine how much time students spend on homework assignments during a typical week. It is known that the standard deviation for the time students spend on homework is 3 hours per week.    A questionnaire is sent to sample of n=100 students and their response indicates a mean of 7.4 hours per week. Now make an interval estimate of population mean so that you are 99% confident that the "true" mean is in your interval....

1. A single-server queueing system has an average service time of 16 minutes per customer, which is exponentially distributed. The manager is thinking of converting to a system with a constant service time of 16 minutes. The arrival rate will remain the same. The effect will be to: increase the utilization factor. decrease the utilization factor. decrease the average time in the system. Increase the average time in the system. not have any effect since the service time is unchanged....
