Explain the pillars in Clinical Governance .
Clinical Governance is the process used to provide quality care for the patient.
It focuses on the quality of patient care services.
The pillars are:-
1.Risk management.
2.Clinical audit.
3. Education and training.
4.Evidence based care and it's effectiveness.
5. Patient and public involvement.
6. Staffing and staff management.
7. Information and IT.
1 . Risk management.
It involves identifying the risk factors that occurs in the past by accidently.
In order to minimise the future risks, assess the
previous problems and learn things what is good and bad.
Taking necessary actions or implementing systems to prevent re occurrence of risks.
eg: Incident forms for preventing risk for patients as well as staff.
- Following hand washing techniques to prevent infection.
2. Clinical audit.
It is a means to measure the quality of health care.
In this the performance standards of staff is assessed.
The present performance is compared with the basic standards.
In order to improve the caring standards opportunities were given to make changes.
A reasonable time is given for improving.
Later further audits may be done to identify the effectiveness of changes.
3.Education and training.
The staff caring for patients should have adequate knowledge and skills .
In order to improve the knowledge and skills, educational programmes and skill training programmes were carried out.
This will help staff to become up to date
in latest knowledge and technologies .
4. Evidence based care and effectiveness.
The care of patient is based on good quality evidences from researches.
The research findings will help to provide quality health care.
The new research findings were implemented to improve quality of health care.
So that the effectiveness of care is more.
5. Patient and public involvement.
we must provide quality care for the patients.
So that the trust increases regarding hospital and it's care.
So we must consider priorities for providing care for clients who seek our services.
Through complaints and complements, we must be able to identify the factors that are good and which need improvement.
From patient feed back and from patient forums we will get an awareness regarding the quality of health care and problems.
6. Staffing and staff management.
staffing and staff management are vital In order to provide care.
A well efficient staff pattern is needed.
They must work as a team in providing standard care.
They will make a good caring environment .
If the staff ratio is less compared to patients.
The quality of health care services cannot be met.
So adequate skilled, efficient staff is needed for providing care.
7. Information and IT.
The details of patients must be protected
confidentially in appropriate storage systems.
IT also very helpful in providing patient care.
