Administration of antibiotics should be the first priority as the function of antibiotics and the requirement for antibiotic to show efficacy requires an optimal amount of water in the body so as to have any effect and transfer the efficacy throughout the body and provide resistance against the bacterial pathogens. Whereas if diuretics are administer first then it reduces the water content in the body by initiative the fluid loss through urination and can leave the body dehydrated which could lead to negative effects of antibiotics and dehydration can lead to kidney damage if required amount of water is not present when the antibiotic treatment is given. Diuretics in the treatment of the patients do not support water retention and hence the water is eliminated through kidneys in the form of urine. In case of older adults the order of antibiotic first and then diuretics is very critical as if not followed the order it can lead to fatal consequences and even death in some cases due to the wrong order and the amount of water present in the body.
