Does Ascena’s corporate strategy seem sound?
Ascena Retail Group, Inc. is an American retailer of women's clothing. Ascena also owns Justice, Lane Bryant, and Catherines clothing store brands, and is the parent company of Ann Inc., operator of Ann Taylor and Loft stores.
this tell us that company is integrating its business in same industry by acquiring the companies which sells the same type of products like women clothing industry.
I think this corporate strategy does not seem sound because company is not able to grow and earn profit after having these many subsidairies under its brand. The market growth of this company is started to saturated which is why company is in loss now a days. On May 20, 2019, the Company announced that it was closing all of its approximately 650 Dress Barn locations one of its subsidiaries.
The corporate strategy which would help it to grow is Diversification strategy. it is a type of corporate strategy that seeks to increase profitability through greater sales volume obtained from new products or new markets. By using this strategy, Ascena can enter into different market with new products like acquire business of fast food or acquire business of grocery store etc.
