Describe the steps of the evidence-based research process and the importance of using them. In the initial stages of an EBP project, where do nurses in your specialty go to locate sources of information that help them to determine whether or not a practice problem is appropriate for an evidence-based practice change proposal. Include two specific sources on information in your discussion.
Evidence based research is integration of evidence for problem, clinical knowledge and patient convinence to find solution for a problem and implement it.
Steps
1.ask a question- convert a need for information about prevention, diagnosis, care etc into a answerable question
2. Evidence to answer- tracking down best evidence that support the answer.
3. Critically assess the value of evidence and information - it is important yo validate the truth and credibility of information and evidence.
4. Implementation- clinically apply the solution with your clinical knowledge and consider patient biology, socioeconomic status, etc
5. Evaluate- evaluate whether the outcome was desired or not. If was not desired find out the drawback points and improve it.
Nurse gather evidence and information in intial steps by
Patient interaction, clinical trials, observational studies, clinical expert opinion, personal experience , study of reports and stats.
Patient interaction is most important source of information. Question about problem faced should be asked and discription of problem should be taken..
