(a) In a trial to prove whether administering a new drug called
“Antidode-19” to combat covid-19, increases the level of red blood
cells in patients, was tested on 20 patients. The researcher
divided the patients in two groups of 10 and administered
antidote-19 and standard procedure, respectively to each group. In
his study, the researcher used patients aged between 35-40 years,
from a pool of newly infected Covid-19 patients. The selected
patients were paired to reduce on sources of error. The results of
the study is shown below:

Would you advise the Ministry of health to stop using the standard
treatment? State your reasons
(b) A feed company claims that a newly formulated medicine reduces
death of catfish by 25%. An average of 1.8 deaths is commonly
obtained with the existing medicines. Believing this claim, 10
farmers used the new medicine and collected catfish death as
follows: 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, 1.2, 1.3, 1.2, 1.2, 1.3, 1.2, and 1.3. Test
whether the feed company’s claim is supported by these data at 5%
probability.

Yes, we would you advise the Ministry of health to stop using the standard treatment as Antidote-19 increases the red blood cells as compare to standard treatment.
Death of catfish is reduced by by 25%.i.e. 25% of 1.8 = 0.45 . This means we have to test the claim that average death of catfish = 1.8 -0.45 = 1.35
So, we have
This means that a newly formulated medicine reduces death of catfish by 25%.
