LOD stands for logarithms of the odds.

LOD tells that whether two genes on a chromosome or not. Whether they are inherited together as a package to the gametes or not. It also tells that two gens are very near on a chromosome or not.

When the LOD score is equal to 3 or more than 3, then we can say that the two genes are found on a same chromosome and the genes are very near. Hence LOD 10 means the genes are on same chromosome and are found in close vicinity to ecah other
