Practical intelligence is best described as 'street smarts' or the ability to use information to get along in life. People with a high degree of practical intelligence know how to be tactful, how to manipulate situations to their advantage, and how to use inside information to increase their odds of success. Practical intelligence is the ability that individuals use to find the best fit between themselves and the demands of the environment.

Fluid intelligence is a general relation perceiving capacity which operates in all fields. It includes education of relations and education of correlations. It is a general capacity to acquire new knowledge and solve new problems. It is related o a person's inherent capacity t learn and solve problems. It is put to use when facing new and strange situations requiring adaptation, comprehension, and reasoning, problem solving and identifying relationships.

Crystallized Intelligence refers to the ability to apply and use previously acquired knowledge. A sum of particular relation perceiving skills acquired in specific fields. It results from anticipation of gf. It is learned and therefore, dependent on education and culture. It can be identified through one's fund of vocabulary, general knowledge of world affairs, and knowledge of customs, traditions and rituals.

Of what practical use are intelligence tests? Does it matter what someone's "IQ" is? Why or why not? Do you think that you could tell the difference between two people whose IQ scores differ by 10 points? By 20? (Assume normal, everyday type conversations.) At what size gap do you think there WOULD be a noticeable difference? What behavior(s) or other observations would signal to you that a person has a higher IQ score?

The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale is an intelligence test, which, like many other IQ tests, is standardized in order to have a normal distribution with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 points. As an early intervention effort, a school psychologist wants to estimate the average score on the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale for all students with a specific type of learning disorder using a simple random sample of 36 students with the disorder.
