It is measure of quality health care provided by the hospital and home health agencies.readmission should be 30 day following discharge for hospitals and 60 days for home health agency and not before that. many elderly patient with comorbities are ones get admitted frequently. there fore hospitals and home health agencies should provide quality care

1. Observation status and percentages: percentage and observation are become higher if the patient was admitted with symptoms. If it resolved within 24 hours, the patient will be discharged and if the patient has symptoms and remain in the hospital for further treatment. The patient with symptoms in the observation will not get benefit of insurance or rarely get one third of benefits than admission. Only if get insurance if get admitted in the hospital.

2. DRG ratio: it is the patient classification system that helps to pay prospective payments to hospital and home health agencies. DRG covers all charges when the patient gets admitted as inpatient

3. Readmission rates: if the elderly patient has more than co-morbidities. Readmission rates are important to assess the quality of care.
