Thalassemia:

  • Thalassemia is a type of inherited blood disorde rwhich cause your body to have less Hemoglobin compared to the normal.Hemoglobin is helps to carry the Red blood cells to oxygen.
  • The main symptoms of the Thalassemia is weakness,fatigue, dark urine, slow growth etc.
  • Alpha Thalassemia is a type of Thalassemia which involving the gene like HBA1, HBA2.
  • People having Beta thalassemia having low level of Hemohlobin which cause lack of oxygen in to many parts of the body.
  • The blood transfusion is the only treatment for Thalassemia.

Statistics Of United States For Thalassemia:

  • Due to shift in immigaration, Thalassemia is countiniously increasing in United States.
  • According to a report of National Institute of Health(NIH) in 2004 based upon the stastistic of Thalassemia, There are total 340 patients having Thalassemia from which 222 patients in United States and other 120 patients are from Toronto.
  • From total Thalassemia patients there are about seventy percent cases are in 15 years of age and younger.
  • The residents of these patients are West Virginia,Newyork,Georgia,Maryland etc.
