The NFL currently does not allow any team other than the Green Bay Packers to have any shareholders. Should the NFL change this rule? Why or why not?
ANSWER:
THE NFL SHOULD NOT CHANGE THE RULE BECAUSE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
1. IF THE CHANGE IS ALLOWED THEN THERE WILL BE DECISION MAKING BODY LIKE A BOARD OR A COMMITTEE AND NOT AN INDIVIDUAL DECISION MAKING BODY.
2. THE ACCOUNTABILITY WITH REGARD TO THE PRACTICES WILL GET DILUTED IF THERE ARE SHAREHOLDERS.
3. PROFITS COULD BE HARMED BASED ON THE PERCEPTION AS IF SOME SHAREHOLDER FEELS THAT THE TEAM IS NOT GOING TO WIN, THEN HE MIGHT SELL THE SHARE AND SUBSEQUENTLY WOULD EFFECT THE VALUE OF THE TEAM.
4. THE WAY THE TEAM IS RUN WILL GET AFFECTED DUE TO VARIOUS OWNERS LEADING TO MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS AND CHAOS.
5. A LOT OF REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS WILL INCREASE, LEADING TOWARDS LOTS OF EXTRA EXPENSES AND FINANCIALS BEING SHARED WITH THE PUBLIC WHICH CANNOT BE GOOD IF THE OWNERS WANT TO RUN THE TEAM IN A CERTAIN MANNER.
6. A LOT OF NEGOTIATION THAT GOES BETWEEN THE OWNERS AND STATE GOVERNMENTS MIGHT BE COMPROMISED DUE TO IT BEING A PUBLIC COMPANY.
