Solutions

Expert Solution

Construct the dotplot for the age of the players of the New England Patriots in 2012 by using MINITAB, which is shown in figure below.

MINITAB Procedure:

Step 1: Choose Graph > Dotplot.

Step 2: Choose One Y-Simple and then click OK.

Step 3: In Graph variables, enter “Age”.

Step 4: Click OK.

MINITAB output:

Observation:

From above figure, the right side of the dotplot is extended larger than the left side. Hence, the distribution of the dotplot seems to be positively skewed. Majority of the players fall between 21 and 30 years old. Also, from the dotplot, there is a peak at age 24 with 7 players and age 25 with 8 players.

In the 2015 AFC Championship game, there was a charge the New England Patriots deflated their footballs           for an advantage.  The balls should be inflated to between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch.  The actual           measurements for this game are listed below.             11.50       10.85       11.15       10.70       11.10       12.60       12.55       11.10       10.95       10.50       10.90           Use a significance level  to test the claim that the population mean is less than 12.5 psi.  State           clearly whether the Patriots’ balls are deflated or not.  (You may treat the measurements as a random           sample from a normal population.)           a)  Calculate...

7. Construct a time series plot. Comment on what type of pattern exists in the data. Use a regression model with dummy variables as follow to explain sales: Qtr1 = 1 if quarter 1, 0 otherwise; Qtr2 = 1 if quarter 2, 0 otherwise; Qtr3 = 1 if quarter 3, 0 otherwise. Write out the model that you’ve estimated in equation form using the values of your estimates. Explain, in a sentence or two, what this model tells us. Use...
