  1.             State the population parameter, and hypotheses. Ho=0.23 Ha:<23

    2.            State the type I and type II errors in this case, consequences of each error type for this situation. What type of error has worse consequences ?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Population parameter : true proportion of patients who had a car accident related trauma.

1.

2.

Type I error - Reject H0 when H0 is actually true - Supporting the claim that true proportion of patients who had a car accident related trauma is less than 0.23 when it is actually equals to 0.23.

Type II error - Accept H0 when H0 is actually false - Supporting the claim that true proportion of patients who had a car accident related trauma equals to 0.23 when is actually less than 0.23.

Here, Type I error has worse consequences.
