OBJECTIVE 2: SCREENING TEST FOR CHOLESTEROL LEVELS. To check the blood cholesterol level at ist and last week of 6 week intervention. High blood cholesterol levels is a risk factor for coronary heart disease. The community will be screened and people with high levels of cholesterol will be put on cholesterol lowering drugs to avoid coronary heart disease.
OBEJCETIVE 3: SCREENING TEST FOR TYPE 2 DIABETES. To check the community with Fasting blood sugar, Random blood sugar and HBA1C tests to screen out the people who have type 2 diabetes, as diabetes is also a risk factor of heart disease. These tests should be done twice in 6 week intervention.
OBJECTIVE 4: SMOKING CESSATION CAMPAIGNS. To get the data of smokers in community and immediately find alternate solutions like nicotine chewing gums to imply in community to avoid smoking and hence decrease the risk of heart disease as smoking is one of the causes of heart diseases.
OBJECTIVE 5: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. To spread the education about importance of physical activity to avoid heart disease in community. Everyday physical exercise like brisk walk or gardening for 30-60 minutes is enough for heart to stay healthy. Strenuous exercise is not required.
OBJECTIVE 6: DIET MODIFICATION. To distribute charts of health heart diet in community which includes information about what diet to be taken like eating vegetables and fruits, beans and other legumes, whole grains, low fat or fat free dairy products, lean meat and fish, healthy fats such as olive oiland what food to be avoided such as high fat diet, avoid oily food, avoid sweets. Usually people in stress overeat, smoke or drink alcohol. To educate the cases about these ways of coping stress are actually risk factors of heart disease. Then teach the cases about possible ways of coping with stress like physical activity, relaxation exercises and meditation for a 6 week intervention.
OBJECTIVE 10: Overall screening to rule out high risk, medium risk and low risk cases. And to follow up the high risk and boundary line risk cases for further evaluation.
