An 80 years male patient admitted into the male medical ward with complaints of generalised edema in the body, breathlessness, pedal edema, anaemia, and decreased urine output. on examination: BP-130/80MMHG, PR: 76BPM, RR: 22CPM.He is an alcoholic since 10 years. us- abdomen: mild ascities, B/L GrI RPC with subcentrimetric cyst showing wall calcification. mild wall edema ingall bladder. ECG: sinus tachychardia, left ventricular hypertrophy, inferior T-wave abnormality. the given treatment is inj.furosemide -40mg, tab. b.complex-1tab, tab. calcium-1tab, tab. pantoprazole- 40mg, tab. amlodipine-5mg, OD, tab.cefixime-200mg-BD, Tab.derphylline-200mg-BD.

There are no dug interactions and adverse drug interactions in the case. the frequency of b.complex and calcium was not mentioned in the prescription.

While giving the treatment to the geriatric patient one should follow ethical rules and principle. the dose of each drug should be calculated according to the gender and age. Utmost care should be provided to these patients. Test dose of antibiotics should be given before giving antibiotic therapy. psychological care should be taken. he should be councelled about the pharmacological and non pharmacological therapies.
