Solutions

Expert Solution

Angiosperms are also known as flowering plants. It is the most diverse plant group.

Three main organs in angiosperms are:-

i.Flower:-It's main function is to ensure pollination.

ii.seed:-It is the final product of sexual reproduction. It has seed coat, outer integument forms outer seed coat(testa) and inner integument forms inner seed coat(tegmen),cotyledons and embroynal axis.

iii.Fruit:-The ovary matures to form fruit and the ovarian wall develops into the wall of fruit called pericarp.they can be fleshy as in orange or Dry as in groundnut.

The above three organs are involved in reproduction but their functions are different.

No ,same function are not performed by different organs in angiosperms.flower, fruit, seeds, leaves, root, stem are different organs in angiosperms, they carry out various functions.

Example:-

Functions of different organs:-

a.Flower is the sexual reproductive part of angiosperms.Four different sets of whorls or floral members are attached to a central axis called thalamus.

i.The outermost and the first accessary whorl is of sepals and is called calyx.calyx main function is to protect the flower in bud condition.when calyx are green ,they are photosynthetic in nature.when coloured ,it attracts insects for pollination.

ii.The second accesory whorl is of petals and is called corolla. It provides colour and scent to attract pollinators.

iii.Next to the corolla,is the first essential whorl of stamens called androecium. Its main function is the production of microspores.

iv.second essential whorl is of carpels and is called gynoecium or pistil. Its function is the production of megaspores, fruits and seeds.

b.seed:-seed is a fertilised ovule which is the final product of sexual reproduction .

i.Seeds posses better adaptive strategies for dispersal to from a new colony.

ii.The reserve food of seed support the growth of seedling till they become nutritionaly independent.

iii.The hard seed coats provide protection against injury.

iv.They provide genetic recombination and variation as they are the product of sexual reproduction.

C.Fruits:-It protects the seed and helps in seed dispersal.

It is clear from the above description is that different functions are carried out by different organs.
