Langdon recommends that Miss Jones try and over-the-counter nasal spray for her nasal congestion is this an appropriate treatment for a Miss Jones question 4 what counseling should the triage nurse offer Miss Jones
In the above questions, Kimberly jone is a patient of hypertension and dyslipidemia.
she suddenly tensed with nasal congestion and call to the dr. langdon office which is picked by the triage nuse.
1) yes, miss jones call was warranted . Any patient who might be having some problems regarding health issue or the progressing disease which she had take treatment from the doctor she have have the fullest right to call him any time.
2) the triage nuse elicit that from the miss jones , she is yhe patient of hypertension and dyslipidemia. and ehen she tells that she is suffering from nasal congestion so it might be indicated to be epistaxis but there is no symptoms of blood from the nose however the bloop pressure is also not much so high which leads to epistaxis ( above 140/90 mmHg).
3) dr. langdon recommend her overstaying and counter nasal spay . I think thats not the good idea .
because most orally or topical nasal decongestant carry the warning against the use in hypertension patient. such as phenylephrine and napha zoline because they further increase the blood pressure. As in nasal congestion the nose become stuffy due to vaso constriction on nose blood vessels.
but the there is some espical decongestant for such hypertension patient are propyhexidrine it doesn't incresse the blood pressure but it is not the over the counter drug it need especial prescription.. but the dr. langdon recommend her the overthe counter drug that not the good one.
4) the triage nurse can gave councelling to miss jones which helps in strengthening the stamina and not to loose the hope. that soon she would be fine and fight whith this disease as she would take regularly medicine and maintain her diet and do some yoga and light weight exercises it will helps to reatain her potential .
