The health department of the ECOWAS is rolling out a policy to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. To do this they carefully selected some countries they think have higher average weekly cases. However another pressure group is accusing them of being bias as they believe all the countries in the sub-region record similar average weekly cases. To prove their case, they present data of randomly selected weekly cases from Niger, Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso. Describe in detail the test you will employ in achieving this by; a. stating the test and its corresponding assumptions in this context. Justify each assumption you make; [12 Marks] b. stating the null and the alternate hypothesis; [4 Marks] c. stating the test statistic and describing its significant departures from the null hypothesis; [8 Marks] d. describing how appropriate conclusions can be reached.
