Often when regional trade agreements are being negotiated, people argue that it is important that such trade agreements include common labor and environmental standards. According to “The Choice,” is this a good idea? Explain.
Soln. Regional trade agreements are made among local society or community. These trade agreements generally have direct impact on the people, environment and their society. Trade agreements should not be made without considering the benefits to the environment and workers, as in long terms, it will be a deal of loss. Only short term benefits should not be considered in local and regional trade agreements because such agreements may affect the environment standards badly. This is always a good idea to include the interest of common labor and environment standards for the effective trade.Trade should not only based on the benefit of individual rather other parameters and standards should be taken into consideration, so that there is no impact on society and environment. Else, if environment standards are not taken into consideration, they trade may be efficient for long term but in long term, it will impact all the parties and societies involved.
