A great deal of past and recent healthcare concern has centered on the errors made in patient care or overall healthcare of people. Many suggest that the legalities of healthcare attempt to balance the expectations of society for healthcare and the mistakes of caregivers with thousands of successful events of exceptional care each year. Yet many cases of errors in care also often go unnoticed or unreported simply because a patient or family member is reluctant to complain about their or their loved one's care for a variety of reasons. Why do you think patients are reluctant to complain about their care and what are some of the reasons for mistakes or errors in care? Discuss this in two different contexts: you as a patient, and your parent or child as a patient.
1. Patients are uniquely qualified to raise concerns about care because they are present for the entire episode of care.Speak to a member of staff - this can be the best way to give feedback and resolve issues quickly.Patients and the regulator share a common goal;improving healthcare quality. However ,patients perceptions of the complaints relevance differ from the regulators perceptions.Regulators should favour more responsive approaches, going beyond assessing against exclusively clinical standards to identify the range of social problems associated with complaints about healthcare.
2. The essential medical errors are misdiagnosis,treating wrong patient,wrong medication,air bubbles in blood,infections,lab errors,equipment failure,patient falls,lack of coordinated care,communication problems,inadequate information flow,human problems,organizational transfer of knowledge,patient related issues,staffing patterns and workflow,technical failures,inadequate policies,work place safety,lack of patient education.
3. Patient centered care as ;providing care that is respectful of ,and responsive to,individual patient preferences, needs and values, ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.'To err is human',so the adage goes, but when physicians err, they can be treated very inhumanly by others and by themselves. The emotional impact of medical error even when there is no litigation, can be severe, resembling what we witness in patients with post traumatic stress disorder. If i am in the patient situation, will react because everyone who is getting worst care ,have rights to react.Patient is paying money for their care and we have to give value for their money.
4. If the error happens to my child,i will react same as which same happens to me.Error is error. So,in some situations humans can happens error.some errors we can forgive..Reaction is not a solution,it creates the worst situations.so handle this type of situations maturely.Whatever, mistake is happend already happend..Think forward to solve the situations maturely.
