Your patient is suffering from upper abdominal pain with occasional heartburn, indigestion, nausea, and gas discomfort. You suspect a stomach ulcer. Discuss the causative microbe for a stomach ulcer being sure to include diagnosis procedures and treatment options.
Helicobactor pylori is the most known bacteria for causing stomach ulcer. In stomach ulsure a sore is generated in the lining of stomach or in duodenam. Helicobactor pylori secrets an enzyme which make it possible to neutralize the acidic environement of stomach and thus they can survive. They generally make the protective layer of stomach very weak and acid can comes through this lining and produce sores.
The diagnosis, initially starts with to confirm the presence of ulcer by endoscopy or X-ray. If there is ulcer, then next presence of Helicobactor pylori is confirmed by testing blood, stool or tissue. For eg. a blood test is done with the antibody against Helicobactor pylori to confirm the presence of it.
Helicobactor pylori infection is treated with antibiotics for killing the bacteria as well as drugs are used to reduce the stomach acid. Antibiotics like tetracycline, amoxicillin are used. On the other hand to reduce acid in stomach drugs like histamine blocker or inhibitor for proton pump are used.
