The rising cost of the prescription drugs is a serious issue as majority of the people in need belong to older age group who may have financial constraints.

Some initiatives which lower the cost of the prescription drugs are :

  • Including the low cost generic drugs which are approved instead of brand drugs which are too costly.
  • To decrease cost of the generic drugs that are approved by FDA.
  • To cover some of the prescription drugs under insurance.
  • Benefit free health check ups and provision of free prescription drugs on certain events by government foccussed on senior citizens.
  • Extra help programs which benefit the poor.
  • Provision of drugs directly to the needed instead of middlemen which cuts down the cost of the prescription drugs.
  • Developing international standard for pricing of drugs which avoids higher pricing by few drug companies.
  • Check online for any program that assists the patients medicine needs.

THANK YOU.
