Energy Calculations: Use activity factors for MSJ
1.ENERGY REQUIREMENT FOR 25 year old male with Diabetes
The energy needs of a diabetic patient is same as that of non diabetic individuals. The aim is to attain and maintain a healthy body weight. About 55%-70% of the daily calory must be from the carbohydrate to adjust blood glucose levels
Also to maintain the health status an intake of dietary fibre with 20%-30% of total energy is also required
Here the persons occupation shows that he is leading a sedentary lifestyle
BMI=25.122(over weight)
Total energy = 81.64x 30=2449 cal
Protein =0.8 x 81.64=65.312 g
65.312 x 4 = 261 cal
Fats =28%
28 x 24.49=685.72÷9= 76g
Carbohydrate = 2449-(262+686)=2449-947=1502 cal= 62% of total calory
=376 gx
Question no 2
65 year old female, pist CABG
Lfestyle- light activities
BMI= 24.805( over weight
Since the patient is in her 2nd postoperative day, she may be on full liquid diet with normal energy requirements
So the total energy requiremnt is 63.5 × 30=1905 cal
With 55-70% of total energy derives from carbohydrates
