Imagine that you work in a medical facility the provides medical laboratory/pathology and medical Imaging services. In computerising this facility to share collected patient information with other facilities, what standards are likely to be used? Your answer should provide an explanation of why and how these standards would be used. Try to limit your answer to 300 words.
The healthcare system has a vast network comprising of different
departments with delivery of different kinds of services. Each
department collects, stores and manages computerised patient
information data and share with other department facilities to
improve the wiality of healthcare services.
The data standards consists of sets of protocols, guidelines and
specifications for safe and effective collection, storage,
retrieval and sharing of information data among different care
facilities.
The common standards used for sharing of healthcare information
include :
1. Use of common encoding specifications to promote the
interoperability of the data shared.
2. Use of standardised document architecture for representing the
electronical clinical data.
3. Use of clinical templates to develop electronic structure
design.
4. Development of user interface for safe and effective sharing of
the data information as well as easy to handle data
information.
5. Development of system between health facilities that can easily
link patient data for safe transferring of data.
6. Use of standardised terminologies for better understanding and
extraction of the data and use of data for multiple
purposes.
