NOVEL CORONA VIRUS

A Novel Corona Virus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in human.

CORONA VIRUS

  • The name coronavirus is derived from the Latine word Corona, meaning "crown" or "wreath" itself a borrowing from Greek "garland, wreath".
  • The name was coined by June Almeida and David Tyrrell who was first observed and studied human corona virus.
  • The corona virus were discovered in the 1960s using two different methods in the United Kingdom and United States.

MODE OF TRANSMISSION

It can transmit through Direct and Indirect contact. It includes,

  • Close contact with infected person via mouth and nose secreations ( Eg:Saliva,Sputum,Droplets etc) which are released from the mouth or nose, than an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks.
  • People with the virus in their nose and throat may leave infected droplets on the objects and surfaces(called fomites)when they sneeze, cough on, or touch surfaces, such as tables, doorknobs and handrails.Other people may beccome infected by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth before cleaning their hands.

PROTECTION AGAINST CORONA VIRUS

  • Clean your hands oftenwith soap and water.or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Maintain a safe distance (Stay at least 6 feet away from others in public places)
  • Wear a mask when physical distance is not possible.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth frequently.

  • Stay home if you feel unwell and reduce the visitors.
  • Restrict your unwanted travell.
  • If you have fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical attention.
